DALLAS (KRLD) - TCU has been punished by the NCAA after if found athletes were being paid for work they didn't do.

TCU self-reported the violations after it discovered that 33 players were not clocking out. The players were on the football and men’s and women’s basketball teams.

The excess payments totaled almost $20,000 over four years, and resulted in 22 of the 33 athletes competing while ineligible.

TCU will serve one year of probation and get a fine of just over $47,000 dollars.

The NCAA believed the violations did not reach the level that can result in scholarship losses and postseason bans.
