The process of playing your favorite lottery games just got easier.
On Monday, Jackpocket launched operations in Texas. Company founder and CEO Peter Sullivan said, "You can play everything from the Powerball to Texas Two-Step to (Tuesday's) $475 million Mega Millions game directly from your phone."
Users download the Jackpocket app and set up an account. Once the account is funded, players can order tickets through the app. Sullivan said, "You don't have to go to a store to buy the ticket, nor do you have to worry about checking the ticket or redeeming the ticket. It's all done automatically for you. And we even have an auto-play subscription. You can set it and forget. You can say, 'Every time the Mega Millions or Powerball is over $200 million, put me in for five drawings.'"
Sullivan said Jackpocket is not affiliated with the Texas Lottery, but does partner with official state lottery retailers. He added the service operates within all current state regulations.
He said the app makes it a lot easier to keep track of all those lottery tickets. "With Jackpocket, you're actually ordering a ticket. And, a real, physical ticket is being bought at an officially-licensed brick-and-mortar retailer here in the state of Texas. We then scan the front and back of every ticket. And inside the app, you actually get to see the full digital version of that ticket, so you can ensure that it's actually a real ticket that was purchased on your behalf from our service providers," Sullivan said.
When it comes to funding a Jackpocket account, state law says it is illegal to use a credit card. However, there are various other methods of adding money. Sullivan said, "You can fund your account using a debit card. You can fund your account by connecting your bank account and doing an ACH transaction. And now, we allow for PayPal. We do not accept credit cards. We will block a credit card if you try to put that in the system."
Sullivan said they built spending limits into the Jackpocket app to encourage responsible gaming. In addition, the app uses the latest technology to protect user information.
The app is available at jackpocket.com or in the Apple or Google Play app stores.
