The Texas Democratic party has launched an initiative to ensure eligible Texans get to vote.  They've teamed up with Stacey Abrams Fair Fight Action to build what they're calling the largest voter protection program in the state's history.

Voter Protection Director Rose Clouston notes last year, the acting Texas Secretary of State tried to have nearly 100,000 voters purged from the rolls. "We went to court and made sure they wouldn't happen.  You have to keep an eye on those issues and make sure that they are not able to prevent people from voting."

The Vote Protection Program has five several components. They include a multi lingual voter assistance hotline, where voters can get the information they need to register and vote and can report any irregularities or obstacles to voting.

There will be a voter protection council staffed with party volunteers which will watch voting developments in Texas and poll watchers to advocate for voters, including those who may be told they are not eligible to cast a ballot.

Both the Republican and Democratic parties have launched big voter registration campaigns.
