DALLAS (KRLD) - The Texas Department of Public Safety is looking for new leads or any witnesses in a homicide investigation from 1979. They're offering a $6,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the people responsible for the death of 7-year-old Elizabeth Lynne Barclay.
Barclay was last seen walking near Northwest Highway and Webb Chapel Road with her brother and a friend on October 23rd, 1979. Investigators say they were approached by a man who grabbed Barclay and put her in his car. They describe the car as being dark-colored with a trunk lid that did not close properly. The suspect is described as a black male who was in his early to mid-'30s at the time.
Barclay's remains were found in Van Zandt County in December of 1979. Dallas Police investigated the murder, but the case eventually went cold. The Texas Rangers re-opened the investigation last year.
The DPS is asking anyone with information to call the state-wide Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477) or the Missing Persons Hotline at 1-800-346-3242.
Elizabeth's case is being highlighted by the DPS as part of the Texas Ranger Unsolved Crimes Investigation (Cold Case) Program. The $6,000 reward will remain in effect until the next case is featured.
