DALLAS (KRLD) - Democratic US Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia of Houston is the only Texan of the seven Impeachment Managers making the case to remove President Trump from office. She told reporters on a conference call Thursday that she remains hopeful they will hear from President Trump’s former National Security advisor in the Impeachment trial. “Especially with the revelations of the manuscript that were reported in the New York Times. I think there’s still a possibility that we might succeed in getting John Bolton as a witness.”
When asked whether the argument the House Impeachment Managers have laid out is having any influence on the two Republican Senators from Texas Garcia said, “They both seem to be listening. They both seem to be very intent. I’m not seeing either one of them take a lot of notes…I’m hopeful that we can persuade one of them but I’m doubtful.”
Garcia also spoke of the support she’s received from Texans about the job she has done as an impeachment manager. “The response we’re getting from the district, particularly the district calls are just very very positive…There’s a real sense of pride of course for having someone from the district, one of their own on the team.” Garcia added the response has been especially good from Latinos and Latinas who have a sense of pride that she’s “at the table.”
