DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Thousands of people lined the streets of downtown Dallas for the city's Veterans Day parade.

The theme of the parade in Dallas was "Commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Normandy Invasion."

French Consul General Alexi Andres spoke outside Dallas City Hall. He says 33 Texans earned the Medal of Honor for their actions in World War II, but 22,000 Texans died.

Andres says the U.S. and France have been building a partnership since the American Revolution.

The parade was delayed when strong winds blew tents and chairs around the stage. One tent landed in the pond in front of Dallas City Hall, but no one was hurt.

From the Department of Bad Timing, the cold front has arrived just as the Dallas Vets Day Parade is about to begin. I'll keep you posted... pic.twitter.com/scZme5uXgN
