With the resignation of Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall announced yesterday, two other major cities in North Texas are also looking for new police chiefs.
Fort Worth Chief Ed Kraus plans to retire at the end of the year, completing a 28-year career at Fort Worth PD.
Kraus was selected to replace Joel Fitzgerald who was fired last year. The city has already begun a national search for a new chief.
In Arlington, meanwhile, Police Chief Will Johnson retired in June after 23 years with Arlington PD, the last seven as chief.
A search is also on there and last month it was announced 24 names had been selected to move on to the next round, winnowed down from the original 74 applicants. Those 24 include Jaime Ayala and Kevin Kolbye who have been serving as interim police chiefs on a rotating basis.
