KRLD's Kristin Diaz speaks with Ancy Walsh, Owner and Director of the Tutoring Center in Carrollton, TX.
Walsh tells Diaz parents are having to make a tough decision on whether or not to allow their kids back in the classroom come the Fall semester. She says during normal summer breaks, kids usually experience a slight regression in learning.
She says this year the learning loss is expected to be much greater as many schools turned to more "busy work" this past Spring in order to accommodate to the transition of e-learning.
Walsh says it more important than ever for tutors to not only help kids navigate through e-learning but also to catch up in lessons that were missed out on during the Spring semester.
Some parents, she adds, have even gone as far as hiring full time teachers to come to their homes to teach their kids this fall, in order to not only get one on one teaching, but also to limit their kids' exposure to the coronavirus.
