The University of Texas at San Antonio says the $10 million in student refunds is for housing, parking and meals plans. It's to help during the coronavirus pandemic.

The university is also helping students who might need medical and child care help during this time.

The university says $3.4 million will go to students who were living in Alvarez Hall, Chaparral Village and Laurel Village.

The university will send around $2.6 million in reimbursements  to students living in University Oaks and Chisholm Hall."We recognize that many of our students and their families are cash-strapped due to the coronavirus pandemic," said Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President for Business Affairs Veronica Salazar Mendez. "We care deeply about our students and hope that putting cash in their hands makes it easier for them to make ends meet during the coronavirus pandemic."
