DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A scam that has targeted several cities in North Texas is now targeting Highland Park residents.

Police say a telephone scammer has been calling claiming to be "Officer Jonathan Blalock," and he says he's with the "Highland Park Police Department."

Police say he's telling people they've missed jury duty and must make immediate payment with a pre-paid debit card or a wire transfer to avoid being arrested.

There's no such thing as the "Highland Park Police Department," it's the Highland Park Department of Public Safety.

Lieutenant Lance Koppa says finding the guy and bringing him to justice won't be easy.

Koppa says so far, no one in Highland Park has fallen for the scam.
