DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - It’s safe to say Dr. Justin Mays couldn’t believe his eyes when he what he thought was clearly pass interference in what could have been a game-changing play for the New Orleans Saints. The no-call prompted outrage for Saints fans and football fans alike, including Dr. Mays, who offered to help in his own way. He tweeted from @CrystalVisionCenterCS, “In light of the atrocious lack of calls during the New Orleans Saints game, we would like to extend free eye exams and glasses to any NFL referee in need. You know who you are.”
Dr. Mays is an optometrist in College Station and has treated his fair share of professional refs.
“Some of them actually do have eye troubles and it makes you question, can these guys really see? Like really, is there an actual problem here? I don’t think Roger Goodell is down there giving them eye exams, but maybe he should!” said. Dr. Mays. He suggests eye exams should be a part of the hiring process for NFL referees. Dr. Mays isn’t even a Saints fan but said the blatant non-call made him question the integrity of the game.
“I’ve never seen such a blatant missed call in my life. And so naturally I’m thinking to myself either someone is getting paid off for this play or they literally just couldn’t see. That’s what prompted me to tweet,” Dr. Mays said.
Dr. Mays is a hardcore Cowboys fan, with Ezekiel Elliot being his favorite player. He predicts the Cowboys will do better next year.
“If we can get Tony Romo to come back and coach, I think we can really do something,” Dr. Mays said jokingly. We can all dream, right?
