DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Around 40 Texas Baptist men will leave tomorrow morning with a 15,000 meal kitchen to Florida.
They'll also bring chainsaw units and a shower unit and a management team. On Thursday or Friday, they're going to send a second kitchen with a 21,000 meal capacity to North or South Carolina with recovery units and shower units and management teams.
Dwain Carter is the Director for Disaster Relief for the Texas Baptist men.
Carter says, "When we get there, the first thing we will do is set up our kitchen. It is a large commercial style kitchen. We'll set this up with our partner Red Cross. They'll bring in food. We'll start cooking and then we'll start going out into the community to see how we can help residents. Our whole desire is to bring hope to those in need through Jesus Christ. That's what we feel like we're called to do."
He says they'll cut down any trees down that could be in the way. Eventually, he says they will take flood recovery units that will go and help clean out houses that have been flooded.
Carter says, "We have chaplains with us who will share the love of Christ with the people in word as many of our people are out doing it in deed. We just try to be what people need in the time of disaster."
