DALLAS (KRLD) - Dallas officials released some new information for residents as Oncor continues to work to restore power to thousands of homes in the city.
Just under 200,000 customers are still without power in North Texas Monday afternoon after a severe thunderstorm blew through the region Sunday.
As of 3 p.m., 198,000 customers are without power, down from 220,000 this morning at 10 a.m. Oncor says the number of outages will continue to drop throughout the day. As many as 350,000 customers in North Texas lost power, with Dallas County seeing the most signficant number of outages, according to Oncor.
Oncor has reached out to its partner agencies across Texas and in neighboring states, including CenterPoint Energy in Houston, Alabama Power and Mississippi Power, for help making repairs. They have also talked to partners in Georgia, North Carolina, California and Florida. Oncor did not provide an estimate on when repairs will be completed.
While residents are without power, they are encouraged to utilize open city libraries, and recreation centers to seek temporary relief from the heat or to charge their electronics. Currently, Lakewood, Oaklawn, Preston-Royal, Skillman-Southwestern, Skyline and White Rock Hills Branch Libraries DO NOT have power.
