HOUSTON (1080 KRLD) - Houston police say two men, Leonard Butler and Preston Wakefield, were in a car that pulled up to the Haviland Park on March 30.
Shots rang out of that car and struck a 3-year-old boy who was sitting in a car with his mother. The boy was shot twice and is recovering.
Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo says, "We are so grateful that God is good and that little boy is out of the hospital. He's expected to make a full recovery. "
Butler is charged with injury to a child, aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault. Wakefield is charged with injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner says, "If you are a member of a gang or are associated with a gang, it's time to get out. If you know someone who is committing criminal acts in our city, it's time to turn them in."
