DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - With Dorian threatening to blast Florida as a major hurricane, the U.S. military is making sure its planes are out of harm's way.
About 150 military aircraft from bases along the East Coast will be housed temporarily at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth.
The planes started arriving in North Texas Thursday, with more scheduled to fly in Friday and Saturday. Fort Worth Police say despite the busier skies over the city, excessive noise is not expected to be an issue.
Dorian remained a Category 1 hurricane late Thursday afternoon, with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph. The storm is expected to grow into a major hurricane on Friday and could reach Category 4 status as it approaches the Atlantic coast of Florida this weekend.
