DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The Richardson man sentenced to life in prison for the death of his 3-year-old daughter is headed to state prison .
Wesley Mathews will serve his life sentence in Huntsville after being transferred from the Dallas County Jail today.
Mathews pleaded guilty to a felony charge of injury to a child in connection with Sherin Mathew's death.
Her body was found dumped in a culvert in October of 2017 just two weeks after her family reported her missing. Mathews claims the child died after choking on milk.
His atorney has asked for a new trial.
