A new report looks at life expectancy at birth in every county in Texas.
Researchers at the University of Texas put together the findings, sorting the data by gender and ethnic group.
The statewide average life expectancy in Texas is 78.5 years. The report shows Collin County (82.46 years) and Denton County (82.32) had the highest average life expectancies in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, while Johnson County (76.99) and Wise County (76.72) had the lowest. Researchers found a life expectancy of 78.31 years in Dallas County, while Tarrant County checked in at 78.73.
The report is accompanied by an interactive map that allows Texans to search for information by county, or even for an individual zip code.
