As more countries around the world report new cases of coronavirus, new concerns are emerging.
Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council President/CEO Stephen Love said the impact of the virus on China could lead to international drug shortages in the near future.
A significant percentage of the ingredients used in pharmaceuticals is produced in China, where key facilities remain shut down over the outbreak.
Until those factories reopen, a disruption is likely in the pharmaceutical pipeline. Love said the impact could be felt in the next 4-6 weeks.
Meanwhile, the local impact of the coronavirus has been minimal.
Love talked about ongoing efforts to maintain that progress with KRLD's Chris Sommer.
