I waited for years for The Book of Mormon.  It did not disappoint.  I was hooked from the opening number.

Thanks DSM for one of the best musicals I’ve ever seen.  It provides hilarious, non-stop laughing in this tongue-in-cheek, biting, satirical comedic masterpiece about The Church of the Latter-Day Saints.

Directors Casey Nicholaw (choreography) and Trey Parker, who also wrote the book, music and lyrics with Robert Lopez and Matt Stone deserve all the awards and accolades they receive, as do the whole cast and crew including Ann Roth for costume design and Scott Pask for scenic design.

It was well-acted, sung (even the “sad” songs were funny) and danced by the whole cast.  I loved Conner Peirson as Elder Cunningham and Kayla Pecchioni as Nabulungi.

Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, The Matrix and The Lion King are referenced and some of the baddest characters in history and pop culture make it into the script and numbers.

Is it raunchy and irreverent?  Hell yes!  But isn’t it great to not take life too seriously and be able to laugh at ourselves?

The underlying message is of love, peace, hope for all races, religions and creeds.

Go and see and hear what the buzz is all about, but hurry.  The Book of Mormon shows now through Sunday February 3rd at the Music Hall at Fair Park in Dallas.
