Last month, it was announced that a film about a DFW family that turned a bad situation into a positive will hit theaters this holiday season. Now, the first trailer for that film has been released, and it will definitely pull at the heart strings. ‘5,000 Blankets’ is due out in December, but after watching this, many may be hoping the holiday season gets here sooner this year.
Back in the 90s, Cyndi Bunch and her son Phillip hit some hard times, as they were forced to live on the streets of Fort Worth after Cyndi’s husband became ill with schizophrenia. However, the mother and son duo didn’t let the hard times get to them, eventually getting back on their feet and doing something special for the homeless community. According to CW33, the family collected 5,000 blankets for homeless people in need, and now their story has been made into a movie.

Starring Anna Camp, the film was written by Dallas-based screenwriter Larry Postel, who saw Cyndi and Phillip’s story on a TV news segment years ago. Now, the rest of the world will get to hear their story when the film is released Dec. 12. This is one holiday movie DFW will not want to miss.
