Other metro areas have signature dishes, why shouldn't we?

A food truck specializing in hot dogs has been getting a lot of press lately. Why, you ask? Because they purportedly created the first Texas-style dog.

According to the Cowtown Dogs website: Every major city in the United States has its very own hot dog that represents the city and those who live there. NYC, Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, and so many others have their own unique hot dog. Yet somehow, as unique as DFW is, it has never had a signature hot dog.

Cowtown details the step-by-step process for making 'The Original Texas Style Hot Dog'.
1. Start with a Euro Classic® brioche bun.
2. Layer on olive oil-marinated jalapeño peppers and grill them for crunch.
3. Add a premium, all-beef, hickory-smoked hot dog.
4. Slather on Raye's® Stone Ground yellow mustard (made traditionally).
5. Top with Eddie chili (a cross between sloppy joe and chili).
6. Garnish with Dublin Sweet Onions or Hot 'n Spicy Onion Pepper Mix
