The first Peppa Pig theme park outside Florida opens this weekend in Texas. The park is next to NRH2O along Highway 26 in North Richland Hills.
Peppa Pig Theme Park has rides and activities that are designed to be enjoyed by kids six and younger.
"I'm having a bunch of fun, I know my daughter's having a bunch of fun. I think this is going to be a pretty sweet place in the future," one dad said at a preview this week. While he was talking, his daughter saw an activity she wanted to try and ran off.
"Having grandsons who are in the target age, they are very excited," says North Richland Hills Mayor Jack McCarty. "Myself and my wife, we're extremely excited about the opportunity to bring them here. When you look at theme parks, what's out in the community is great, but when you're talking about the little kids and young families, this is a huge draw for them."
McCarty says Peppa Pig and the water park next door can draw families from across the area looking for a place designed for them.
"I love they're marketing as Dallas-Fort Worth because that'll pull it all in," he says. "I think this parking lot's going to be packed all the time. It's amazing."
Peppa Pig Theme Park has themed rides including a small roller coaster and play areas.
"We really want to give families a great place to create memories and experience play together," says Julie Estrada, a spokeswoman for Merlin Entertainment, the developer of the park.
Merlin Entertainment also runs LEGOLAND Discovery Center, SEA LIFE Aquarium and PEPPA PIG World of Play in Grapevine.
Peppa Pig Theme Park in North Richland Hills is a certified autism center. Estrada says the park has a sensory area and each attraction has a sensory guide so parents know what to expect.
"It shows on a level of one to ten using all five senses," she says. "It lets you know if there's a higher level of taste, smell or sight."
