NASCAR fans will be pouring into Fort Worth over the next week, getting ready for the NASCAR Playoffs on September 23rd and 24th at Texas Motor Speedway.
"There are so many events and so many opportunities for fans to get involved," Mark Faber, general manager of Texas Motor Speedway, said.
VIP camping lots are open this weekend. That's when the week starts its activities.
"We call it 'Smoke and Sizzle,'" Faber said. "I mean, we have a lot of non-stop activities. We have a fan zone for activations and groups to come out. From the presence of Fort Cavazos military base and its servicemen and women, who will be showcasing tanks and military equipment in the fan zone, to the opening of exterior and interior campgrounds and hosting concerts for campers, there is no shortage of entertainment."
The racing kicks off on Sept. 21 with Micro Mania at the Lil' Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track, followed by practices, races, and a full slate of activities leading up to the main events.
Faber says there are multiple concerts, and even a barbecue contest with $5,000 in cash prizes.
Then the core events include the Andy's Frozen Custard 300 on Sept. 23 and the Auto Trader EchoPark Automotive 400, which is a NASCAR Cup Series playoff race, on Sept. 24. Faber says all the events are very affordable.
"We wanna give people an excuse to come out here," Faber said. "And so kids twelve and under are free on Saturday for the Xfinity race and they're $10 on Sunday. There's affordable pricing."
"Plus you can bring in soft-sided coolers with food and beverage," Faber said. "There's really not another major entertainment venue here in the area that allows that. You have free parking. Last year we launched our new expanded seating. So you have additional legroom with drink rails in seats. And, it's just a great opportunity for families to come out here and spend a great Sunday afternoon."
