DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys reportedly lost a major contributor in their defensive backfield on Tuesday morning, when starting corner Chidobe Awuzie agreed to terms on a deal with the Cincinnati Bengals.
The agreement, which is said to be for three years, was first reported by NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Awuzie was originally selected by the Cowboys with the 60th overall pick in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft and started in 42 of his 49 games.
Known as more of a tackler and a pass defender, rather than a turnover creator, Awuzie had just four interceptions in his four seasons with Dallas but ended his tenure with 213 tackles and 37 passes defended.
Awuzie now joins a Bengals franchise that has been aggressive in addressing the defensive side of the ball to open free agency, also adding Saints defensive end Trey Hendrickson on a four-year $60 million deal.
