DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - There was a surprise omission from the Dallas Cowboys offense when they came onto the field for their first series on Friday night vs the Arizona Cardinals.

Expected starting center Tyler Biadasz was left on the sidelines while the Connor Williams center "experiment" continued.

"It was a last-minute call," Williams said, via DallasCowboys.com. "There's just an emphasis on getting me backup center reps, obviously. Just getting in and getting those live center reps ... it's obviously different than practice."

Williams was involved in two poor snap exchanges with quarterback Garrett Gilbert in the first half, one of which came on a fourth-and-3 play on the Cardinals' 20-yard line. The errant shotgun snap forced Gilbert to scramble and throw an incomplete pass.

"I just think it's just getting that comfortability and live reps situation, obviously (needing) more practice and the fine-tuning of the snap, getting perfect on cadence," said Williams, who has been the Cowboys' starting left guard since 2018.

But what if there is more to the story here...

Could this be more than just an "experiment," and maybe, an actual "competition?"

105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher is starting to question if the Cowboys are considering a "best-five'' approach when it comes to who starts and who doesn't on the offensive line.

And if there is a "competition" underway here, Fish believes it's time to put a stop to it. Hear his thoughts in the video above.
