ARLINGTON (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys suffered arguably their most embarrassing loss of the Mike McCarthy era on Sunday afternoon, getting shut out by the Denver Broncos 30-16.
The Cowboys narrowly avoided what was nearly their first shutout since the 2018 season, when they lost 23-0 to the Indianapolis Colts in 2018.
Led by Teddy Bridgwater, the Broncos' offense had their way with the Dallas defense, amassing 407 total yards, including 190 on the ground, on their way to scoring their highest point total of the season.
Javonte Williams led the way for the Broncos on the ground, rushing 17 times for 111 yards, while Melvin Gordon added 21 carries for 80 yards and a touchdown.
In the passing game, For Bridgwater completed 19 of 28 passes for 249 yards and one touchdown while rushing for another.
On the other end, Dallas could not get anything going offensively, gaining just 290 total yards, and making just 14 first downs -- the majority of which came with the game already in hand for Denver.
Dallas was also just 5 of 13 on third downs for the day and was 0 of 4 on fourth down conversions as well.
Cowboys QB Dak Prescott, who made his return from a calf injury after missing the team's win over the Vikings one week prior, was also largely ineffective, completing just 19 of 39 passes for 232 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.
Meanwhile, Cowboys star running back Ezekiel Elliott also struggled to get going after suffering a right knee contusion in the first half, playing sparingly for the rest of the game.
Elliott finished the day with 10 carries for 51 yards, to go along with three catches for 25 yards.
With the loss, Dallas now moves to 6-2 on the season, with a matchup against the Atlanta Falcons (3-4) at AT&T Stadium next Sunday.
