DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dalton Schultz was a surprise inactive for the Dallas Cowboys in the Sunday night loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, and now we know why.
"He tweaked his knee in that ramp-up day on Saturday. Just felt like he couldn't play at the level he needed to be productive for us, Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said Monday on 105.3 The Fan. He, Britt Brown (associate athletic trainer/director of rehabilitation) and the coaches just felt like it was in our best interest after he tweaked it to not dress him."
Schultz sprained the PCL in his right knee at the end of the Cowboys' win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2 and sat out the Week 3 win over the New York Giants.
Jones said they'll see how Schultz looks this week before determining if he'll play on Sunday against the Detroit Lions.
In Schultz's absence, Cowboys rookie tight end Jake Ferguson recorded career highs in receptions (four) and yards (40) and caught his first career touchdown on a nifty move. And fellow rookie tight end Peyton Hendershot pitched in two catches for 22 yards.
