There was some good news on the Dak Prescott front Sunday morning.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, there were no infections from his surgery on the compound fracture in his right leg that he sustained last week against the Giants.

Prescott underwent surgery on Sunday and was sent home on Monday afternoon, although doctors were concerned about a possible infection and were monitoring the situation.

The Cowboys quarterback, who spent Thursday at the team facility meeting with teammates and coaches, posted on his Instagram page that same day that he was “ready to start his road to come back,” which is expected to require at least four to six months of rehab.

The news of no infection is encouraging and a bit of a sigh of relief for Prescott. Washington quarterback Alex Smith’s gruesome leg injury in 2018 resulted in an infection, which complicated his road to recovery and even put his life in danger. Smith played in his first game since the injury last week.

Smith has been one of several players throughout the league who has checked in on Prescott, although the Washington quarterback said he has avoided texting him directly as to not scare him.
