Exclusive: Mulugheta sets the record straight on Cowboys-Parsons contract talk timeline

In an exclusive phone conversation with Micah Parsons' agent, David Mulugheta and 105.3 The Fan's Bobby Belt, the agent set the record straight regarding the timeline of contract negotiations, or lack thereof, with the Cowboys.

Mulugheta revealed that he approached the Cowboys about an extension for the star pass rusher, not once, but twice over the last 18 months.

Mulugheta informed Belt that he told the Cowboys at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis in 2024 that they were ready to engage in negotiations, but the Cowboys wanted to hold off on talks with the pass rusher while they worked on deals with CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott. Parsons' team understood their position and informed the Cowboys' front office to call when they were ready to talk. However, because Prescott's contract wasn't finalized until the day of the season opener, and Parsons had no desire to negotiate in the middle of the season, talks never occurred.

Mulugheta said he informed the Cowboys at the NFL Combine in 2025 that they were ready to do business, which was before T.J. Watt and Myles Garrett signed their massive extensions this offseason. Mulugheta's timeline of events contradicts what Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said to the G-BAG Nation at Cowboys training camp in Oxnard.

"We don't drag deals out. We do deals when there's an opportunity to do a deal," Jones said. "No one knows what goes on internally with a particular negotiation. Sometimes, agents and players aren't ready to pull the trigger until they see other cards played."

Bobby, Shan, and RJ dove into the negotiation timeline, Jerry Jones' old-school handshake philosophy, and whether this standoff is a negotiating tactic or a real fracture between Micah and the team. Plus, what does this mean for the Cowboys' approach moving forward? Could Parsons truly want out?
