The 32 NFL owners voted unanimously to approve the purchase of the Washington Commanders by a nearly 20-person group led by Josh Harris from Dan Snyder.
The original story follows
Jerry Jones, owner of the rival Cowboys, told reporters on Thursday that the pending sale approval of the Commanders was going to be a “hallmark day” for the National Football League.
“I think it’s going to be a great day for the NFL,” Jones said, via Ben Standig of The Athletic. “Excited. It’s a hallmark day.”
Once the necessary 24 votes (or more) are placed in favor of Dan Snyder selling the Commanders to Josh Harris and company, Jones may not be as excited, as his division rival could become a threat in the NFC East, free from the clutches of an owner in Snyder who drove the franchise through one of the most tumultuous periods that any NFL team has ever experienced.
Still, Jones gave some playful trash talk to fuel the Cowboys/Commanders rivalry.
“Excited about the prospect of going into Washington and giving them some capital punishment,” Jones said.
