DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Mavericks lost yet another player to the NBA's COVID-19 health and safety protocols on Monday, in star big man Kristaps Porzingis.
Porzingis is now the 11th Maverick to enter protocols this season, with Dallas recently losing Trey Burke, Luka Dončić, Tim Hardaway Jr., Maxi Kleber, Brandon Knight, Boban Marjanović, and JaQuori McLaughlin to protocols in recent days.
As a result of their COVID issues, the Mavs have had to field a league high 24 players this season.
The loss comes at an inopportune time for both the Mavericks and Porzingis, who was averaging 27.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists over his last four games.
On the season, Porzingis averaged 20.6 points, eight rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game, and had a player efficiency rating of 23.9.
The Mavs (18-18) are scheduled to take on the Denver Nuggets (18-16) on Monday night at the American Airlines Center.
