DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - To the surprise of no one, the Dallas Mavericks will NOT be trading for Rockets star guard James Harden, Marc Stein of the New York Times reported Friday.

Stein's report comes just one day after Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson of Heavy.com reported that Dallas was among the teams with interest in trading for Harden.

Many were skeptical about the validity of the report when it dropped. And for good reason, because it literally makes zero sense.

Why would the Mavs have any interest in acquiring a 31-year-old ball-dominant guard when they already have a 21-year-old ball dominant guard on the roster? Not to mention the fact that Harden is a potential locker room cancer. But, I digress.

As we suspected, there's "no chance" the Mavs would be interested in bringing Harden into the fold, Stein reported.

Thus, some other franchise can pay a steep price with the hopes that Harden will be on his best behavior.
