DALLAS (105.3 the Fan) - Following their blockbuster deal in which they sent shortstop, Elvis Andrus, to the Oakland Athletics for Khris Davis, it was reported that the Texas Rangers are likely to pursue third base help to fill the void left by Andrus' departure.

Andrus, who was rumored to be considered for a move to third base heading into next season, spent the first 12 years of his career at shortstop, before the club elected to move Isiah Kiner-Falefa to the position.

In the report, the Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant listed free agents Brock Holt and Jake Lamb as short term replacement possibilities for the position.

Holt, who spent last season with both the Milwaukee Brewers and Washington Nationals, is a career .268 hitter with 23 home runs in nine seasons. Holt began his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates before suiting up for the Boston Redsox from 2013-2019.

A seven-year veteran, Lamb holds a .239 career batting average, with 84 home runs and 312 RBI. Lamb spent six seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks, before playing for Oakland last season.

However, it should be noted that the Rangers' top prospect, Josh Jung, is a highly regarded player at the third base position as well, and could possibly be ready to make the jump to the big league club next season according to new Rangers general manager, Chris Young.
