Report: Dwayne Haskins trade before November is 'most likely outcome'

Could Dwayne Haskins' career in Washington be over after only two seasons? Could he really have gone from starter to inevitable trade deadline target in a matter of weeks?

According to RADIO.COM Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora, that seems to be the "most likely outcome," as sources within the organization are saying that a trade before the November 3 deadline could very well be in the works (via CBS Sports). With a new head coach that has no ties to Haskins in Ron Rivera and a generally underwhelming performance -- Haskins has led Washington to a 3-8 record in his starts and has ten touchdowns compared to 20 combined interceptions and fumbles -- it wouldn't come as a major shock.

It's more than just a lack of a connection with Rivera, too, as La Canfora reports that the relationship between Haskins and the current staff is "already fairly toxic," and "his personality has rubbed (Washington) the wrong way since early on."

Further reinforcing the belief that a trade should come is the fact that a source told La Canfora that Rivera and his staff are high on Kyle Allen, who will be starting in place of Haskins in Week 5.

"Allen is their guy," the source told La Canfora. "They think he fits their system. They didn't really want anything to do with Haskins from the beginning."

Despite being a first-round draft pick as recent as 2019, Haskins likely wouldn't fetch as much value in return should a trade come soon. La Canfora pegs a team with a veteran quarterback that he could learn and develop behind as an optimal target, making the Steelers, the Colts and a few other teams viable options. Whoever those teams are, La Canfora says that they're already doing their due diligence and watching film on Haskins.

Though there's a lot of bad film, there's also a lot of good that would obviously make teams looking for a developing quarterback intrigued.

Should Haskins get traded elsewhere and live up to his projected draft value, it would be just another unfortunate piece of the old Washington regime that acts as more proof of the franchise's dysfunction in recent years.
