(670 The Score) The White Sox have agreed to acquire right-hander Lance Lynn in a trade with the Rangers, Jeff Passan of ESPN reported late Monday night.
Chicago will send rookie right-hander Dane Dunning and pitching prospect Avery Weems back to Texas in the deal, ESPN reported.
Lynn, 33, was 6-3 with a 3.32 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP in 13 starts for the Rangers last season. He also posted a 9.54 strikeouts-per-nine-innings mark. Lynn has one season remaining on a three-year, $30-million deal that he signed with the Rangers prior to the 2019 season.
Dunning, 25, was 2-0 with a 3.97 ERA and 1.12 WHIP over seven starts last season. He made his MLB debut in August, then emerged as a regular starter in the White Sox rotation.
Dunning joined the White Sox in December 2016 as one of the key returns in a blockbuster trade with the Nationals that also sent right-hander Lucas Giolito and right-hander Reynaldo Lopez to the White Sox in exchange for outfielder Adam Eaton.
Weems, 23, had a 2.09 ERA across two levels of rookie ball in 2019 before the pandemic wiped out the minor league season in 2020. The White Sox selected him in the sixth round of the amateur draft in 2019.
The White Sox and Rangers haven't yet officially announced the acquisition of Lynn.
