Why haven't the Cowboys moved Zack Martin to tackle? Stephen Jones responds

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Members of the media and Cowboys fans continued to question why head coach Mike McCarthy has yet to move his best offensive lineman, Zack Martin, to tackle, with undrafted right tackle Terence Steele struggling to block his opponent week-in and week-out.

Cowboys COO Stephen Jones was asked Monday on 105.3 The Fan why the team hasn't moved Martin yet with the offensive line decimated by injuries?

"We're counting on coach Philbin (offensive line coach Joe Philbin) and coach McCarthy to really look at that in terms of what's in our best interest. If you ask Troy Aikman, he used to want that, and Tony Romo too, wanted the middle of that pocket firmed up. The hardest thing for a quarterback is having them come up the middle and you're not able to climb in the pocket. And then the other thing is you just end up moving everybody around with new people at every position then that's a challenge too," Jones said on the K&C Masterpiece. "Right now, Zack is a better guard than he is a tackle. Would he ultimately be a great tackle? I would probably think so. I think he's got that opportunity to be a great tackle. But I think right now, where Mike is (coach McCarthy), where Kellen (Moore) is, where coach Philbin is, they feel like the best thing to do is keep Zack where he's been playing."
