For many Texans, it seems like every day they are meeting someone new that recently moves to the Lone Star state, especially those in DFW. Now, new data has revealed that feeling is likely to continue, as more people moved to DFW in the last year than anywhere else in the country. The census recently released their preliminary 2020 numbers, and as expected it showed plenty of people leaving other states for Texas.

According to the recently released data, DFW saw an increase of nearly 120,000 people as of July 1, 2020. That’s more than any other metro area in the country, compared to last year, including two other major areas in Texas. DFW remains the fourth largest metropolitan statistical area, beating out Houston once again.

Collin County grew by 36,997 people, Denton County added 30,559, and Tarrant County jumped by 22,065, according to D Magazine. New York, Los Angeles and Chicago all remain ahead of Texas in MSA, but each of those major areas lost population in 2020, as Texas continues to grow. With more and more people moving to Texas those rankings should change soon enough.
