As shocking as the nation's new inflation rate of 8.6% might be, it's even worse in North Texas.
In May, the Dallas-Fort Worth inflation rate came in at 9.1% as everything cost more -- from gas and food to rent and utilities. As recently as September, the DFW inflation rate was under six percent.
And in May of 2020, prices actually declined by a half percent. The May cost of either owning or renting a home is up 7.3% from a year ago.
And everyone knows about gas prices -- up more than 50 percent from this time last year.
