The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo opens Friday for its 126th year. The Stock Show and Rodeo started in 1896 and attendance now tops one million people.
In 2022, the stock show says about 1.2 million people attended. An economic impact study presented to the Fort Worth City Council last May says visitors spent an average of almost four days in the city, and the stock show led to $115 million in spending.
This year, the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo is opening its first "pop up" store. During the All Western Parade Saturday, the stock show will sell merchandise at Crockett Row, across University Drive from the stock show grounds.
"What a pleasure it is to tell you Crockett Row is partnering with the stock show," says Crockett Row Senior Property Manager Shaye Evans. "This will be the first event ever where their merchandise will be sold at a location other than theirs."
Evans says the pop up store will be open Saturday from 12-4 p.m at 2916 Crockett Street. She says the store can give people who live in North Texas a place to find merchandise without the cost of attending the stock show itself and also give visitors a chance to learn more about Fort Worth.
"This is a great time to come here, learn what Fort Worth is about, what our people are about without having to go to a huge event," she says.
The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo says 83% of those attending last year's event live in North Texas, 13% were from Texas but outside the Metroplex, four percent live out of state or in another country.
The stock show says last year's event included more than 29,000 livestock entries from 239 of Texas' 254 counties. Open show exhibitors came from 43 states, Canada and Brazil.
