Gas prices in Texas and across the Dallas-Fort Worth area shattered all-time records in March that had stood for nearly 14 years. It took about two months to obliterate those marks.

All of Texas gas now costs more than $4 and in some places, it's quite a bit more.

Calling it "the new normal," AAA Texas spokesperson Daniel Armbruster said Texans likely will not see relief anytime soon. He joined Mike Rogers and Susy Solis Tuesday on the KRLD Morning News.

According to AAA Texas, the DFW average for regular unleaded jumped 15 cents overnight to a new record of $4.15 per gallon, surpassing the previous standard of $4.11 set earlier this year. The Texas record also was erased on Tuesday, with the statewide average up to $4.06.

AAA Texas says the average price in Tarrant and Dallas counties is $4.15. State-wide, the average is $4.08, somewhat better than the national price of $4.37.

The worst prices in the state Tuesday were in West Texas where Culberson County gas is $4.51. As for diesel, it's at $5.30 in Dallas and Tarrant counties.

There are a few other metro areas in Texas that are about the same including Austin, College Station, Laredo and Texarkana are all averaging $5.30 for diesel.
