An exhibit about the life and work of Jane Goodall is in its final weekend at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. "Becoming Jane: The Evolution of Dr. Jane Goodall" closes Monday.

"This exhibition showcases the extraordinary power of a childhood dream that, when properly nurtured, grew to change and inspire the world," says Perot Museum Chief Executive Linda Silver. "It's our hope this exhibition will serve a similar inspiration to all of you."

The exhibit shows Goodall's childhood and beginning of her interest in science to her career and research of chimpanzees.

"Don't forget every single one of us makes a difference, makes an impact on the planet every single day," Goodall said when answering students' questions at the opening of the exhibit this spring. "You get to choose what sort of difference you make."

Goodall says the exhibit aims to spark kids' interest in science. She says kids can learn how similar humans are to other animals.

"Animals can have feelings. Animals can feel fear. Animals can feel pain. Animals can feel happy or sad," she said during the meeting with students. "We are not the only creatures to have culture, and you'll find, if you learn about it, whales have culture, elephants have culture and all kinds of animals."

The exhibit is part of the Perot Museum's 10th anniversary celebration, which is ongoing throughout this year.

"Throughout the past decade, the museum has remained steadfast in our mission to inspire minds through nature and science," Silver says. "It's our hope, that through this commitment, that young people will build a life-long love of science, and that you're better able to see yourselves in science of STEM careers when you become adults."
