In 2022, for the first time ever, the Division One Women's College Basketball tournament will also be called "March Madness."
Previously the moniker had only been reserved for the men's tournament. But the change was recommended after a review of gender equity issues in connection with the NCAA championships.

"I think it's a good thing for the sport to be able use 'March Madness,'" says Doug Feinberg, women's basketball writer for the Associated Press. "They don't know how they're going to do it yet, I assume it will be on the court with logos and branding."
It's the first step toward greater equality in men's and women's college athletics.
"I think they'll probably expand the (women's) tournament field to 68 (teams) to match the men at some point soon," says Feinberg. "So those are tangible things that can change that will be better for the women's tournament."
The Women's Final Four will be played April 1-3 in Minneapolis. In 2023, the Women's Final Four will be in Dallas.
