For years, McKinney residents were forced to travel to surrounding cities any time they wanted to buy a bottle of liquor. However, it appears the city is ready to get into the liquor store business after a proposition was passed last year to allow the sale of packaged liquor products.
Now, Texas-based Spec’s has announced plans to open their first McKinney location in 2024.
Back in November, McKinney residents voted to approved a ballot proposition allowing liquor stores in the city. Since then, more than 10 liquor stores have applied for or received permits to open a location in McKinney.
According to Community Impact, one of those is Spec’s, which will open their first McKinney location next year.
The new Spec’s will be located at 2900 W. University Drive, Ste. 100, McKinney, near Skyline Drive. Along with beer, the store will offer a variety of beers, wines, and food items.
