Thanks to a new state law, Texas bar owners and their employees are being trained to help stop opioid overdoses.
Reports show at least 1 in 4 Texans have experienced an overdose or know someone who has, and more than 150 Americans die each day from opioid overdoses according to the CDC.
Texas is leading the fight against the fentanyl crisis and has approved a new state law that requires some bar owners and their staff to complete an opioid overdose training course provided by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC).
The new emergency medical training includes how to spot symptoms of an overdose and how to administer Naloxone, a rescue medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott says this new law will help save lives.
