Dallas-based Southwest Airlines was given the OK to begin reconfiguring its aircraft to meet new marketing to customers.

Crews will be moving seats around and the individual air conditioning units above each seat.

Southwest CEO Bob Jordan told KRLD's David Johnson that it is rather complicated but they can do it quickly.

"It's very complex but they are able to do that whole thing in one overnight," Jordan said.

The goal is to have the entire fleet ready by the start of 2026 when they will have assigned seating and offer more leg room for some passengers.

"All of our fleet will be reconfigured in time when the new extra leg room and assigned seating begins to operate in the first quarter of 2026," Jordan said.

The reconfiguring process begins this week.
