A west-bound stretch of I-20 in Kaufman County is back open again but it was a real headache on Sunday.
Reports say a car-hauler crashed on I-20 near Elmo. The rig caught fire and all of the cars it was carrying were destroyed. The blackened cars had to be hoisted by cranes and transferred to other trucks.
Some people reported traffic delays of two hours and more. There were also long delays on the east-bound side as drivers slowed down to take a look.
Elmo firefighters said some frustrated drivers were cutting across the median to get to the service road, and that was impeding emergency vehicles.
A tweet from the Fire Department threatened to call DPS troopers to put a stop to it.
