Irving police and the school district believe everything is safe at MacArthur High School today after an hours-long lock down and an inch by inch search for a reported handgun on campus.
Irving police say a thousand students were kept safe in their rooms while police began the search.
Using vans, the school transported the students and teachers to an Irving middle school where they were reunited with their loved ones. However, those who had driven to school that morning had to leave their cars and make plans to pick them up this morning.
In the end, no gun was ever found but three boys were detained for questioning and then were released to their parents.
