A River Oaks teen who killed his six-year-old cousin two years ago has been sentenced to 20 years in juvenile detention.

In August of 2021, the then-12-year-old smashed in his six-year-old cousin's head with a baseball bat outside her home in River Oaks.

She died at a Fort Worth hospital.

The teen admitted to killing the girl and asked 323rd District Judge Judge Alex Kim to determine his sentence.

Because the killer is still a minor, his name is being withheld.
