Officials say that "Operation Safe Halloween" targeted people suspected of using the internet to prey on children. Deputies worked with Homeland Security and the Texas Department of Public Safety to identify suspects.

Sixteen people have been arrested on charges of online solicitation of a minor. Two have been arrested on charges of possession of child pornography. One of the defendants was taken into custody in Tennessee. Three others are also facing charges but have not yet been arrested.

"If you come to Collin County with the intent to prey upon and abuse our children, we will lock you up, and our District Attorney will send you to prison," said Collin County Sheriff Jim Skinner.

Investigators are still searching through the computers, cell phones and other electronic devices that were seized during the operation. More criminal charges could be issued based on what they find.
