Two people are hospitalized after a small plane crashed and caught fire in Carrollton Monday evening.
The Carrollton Police Department said the plane went down around 8 p.m. and crashed on East Hebron Parkway between Marsh Ridge and Arbor Creek -- about three miles north of Addison Airport.
Two people onboard the aircraft were transported to the hospital. Both were last reported in stable condition. No bystanders were injured.
Photos from the scene show the charred wreckage along the road near a residential area.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the plane, a single-engine Mooney M20, had departed Abilene Regional Airport and was headed to the Addison Airport when it crashed.
The area was closed to traffic for hours while crews cleaned the scene. It has since reopened.
It's not clear what caused the plane to crash.
The FAA has finished the preliminary investigation and turned over the accident investigation to the National Traffic Safety Board.
